"A book is a gift you can open again and again." Garrison Keillor
Willow Bridge Books is an independent bookstore located in Oakhurst, California. Nestled between the scenic landscapes of the San Joaquin Valley and Yosemite National Park, the bookstore services the communities of Madera and Mariposa counties.
According to the owner, Monica McClanahan, "individual bookstores cannot survive unless they become deeply involved in the community." Willow Bridge Books's goal is to become a dynamic part of the community and to serve as a 'bridge' between our rural communities and the outside literary and artistic world.
Willow Bridge Books holds the charm of a village shop, with the depth and breadth of the most sophisticated New York emporium. says Chris Stanton, author of Jubilee. "But neither of these is their strongest virtue...that would be the attentive staff and local patrons that give it its' heart."

Nature Noir: A Park Ranger's Patrol in the Sierra
by
Smith, Jordan Fisher
A nature book unlike any other, Jordan Fisher Smith's startling account of fourteen years as a park ranger thoroughly dispels our idealized visions of life in the great outdoors. Instead of scout troops and placid birdwatchers, Smith's beat -- a stretch of land that has been officially condemned to be flooded -- brings him into contact with drug users tweaked out to the point of violence, obsessed miners, and other dangerous creatures. In unflinchingly honest prose, he reveals the unexpectedly dark underbelly of patrolling and protecting public lands.

Quote of the Day

Unique and provocative selections from a great diversity of voices...all personally recommended by the independent booksellers of America.

1858: Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant and the War They Failed to See
by
Chadwick, Bruce
By linking the stories of Abraham Lincoln, Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Ulysses S. Grant, and others, Chadwick creates the historical period at the near-end of the antebellum era. Included is a great portrait of a rather delusional president who is over-confident of his own policies and sure that history will absolve his stands.--Dan Domike, Jackson Street Books (Seattle, WA)
The Choice
by
Sparks, Nicholas
#1 New York Times bestseller Nicholas Sparks turns his unrivaled talents to a new tale about love found and lost, and the choices we hope we'll never have to make.
Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life - boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies -- he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door.
Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, THE CHOICE ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?
